Toyota Automated Assembly Upgrades

DETROIT, M.I. (Aug. 2, 2028)  – Toyota committed an additional $4 billion dollars to its fully-automated Detroit Assembly Site (DAS), the plant responsible for constructing the widely popular Evos E line of vehicles. This renewed funding signals the continued trend in reduction to automotive pricing. When DAS first began production in 2025, it accounted for only 20% of all North American Evos E’s built. Today it manufactures 80% of all finished units for the increasingly desirable and affordable class.

The Evos E was designed for both environmental sustainability and simplicity of fabrication. The resulting automobile competed against high-cost brands such as Tesla and Rivian, beating out the competition and cornering the market of low-cost, high efficiency electric vehicles. Since that time Toyota has spent over $12 billion in R&D, feasibility and impact studies, design, construction, and maintenance of its first ever fully-automated plant. This $4 billion upgrade will support the Evos E’s founding ideology, better quality for lesser cost.

The plant operates with minimal employee oversight, automated systems ordering and managing material inventories, receiving shipments via self-driving transport, and completing assembly of the frame, batteries, chassis and interior. Though the exact process is a closely guarded secret, Toyota has issued press releases detailing the only actual human interactions with DAS facility vehicles; finishing, and quality control monitoring. For 3 years the Detroit Assembly Site has reduced production costs by unrivaled amounts, and Toyota has passed that profit on to drivers. Now, with the plant upgrades scheduled, the expected price change per unit of the Evos E is estimated at $4,000 each; saving customers across the North American territories hundreds of millions within the first 2 years post-investment, and billions soon after.

“Toyota is, as it has always been, a company committed to quality. The redoubled investment in our Detroit Assembly Site is not earmarked for hardware upgrades, it is assigned to continue our mission of bringing the best vehicles to market” stated Velissa Andis, Director of North American Manufacturing. “The Evos E is a magnificent vehicle, the plant it’s constructed in, no less marvelous. We are proud to lead the industry in automotive automation.”

The new plant designs call for significant layout and architectural changes, a challenge Toyota has partnered with Arkay Welborough Partnership (AWP) to solve.

“We are excited to announce the campus improvements will be designed in partnership with Arkey Welborough, to both hasten project completion, and guarantee quality construction” Vice-President of Public Relations, Jeffery Chasten, announced. “Structural planning and construction will be handled by our partners at AWP, while hardware and site optimization will be attended to by our own technical engineers on-site.”

The plant renovations are anticipated to create a surplus of 500 local jobs, and project manager Kareem Abdas has promised a portion of funds will be contributed to the restoration of local landmarks, and to the construction of a public park adjoining the plant.

Toyota is, as it always has been, a thought leader in automotive design and construction practices. Knowing the demand for reliable, reasonably priced electric cars, an overstock of Evos E vehicles is expected to begin this October to provide uninterrupted order fulfillment and delivery.

“Everything we do is decided with a focus on customer perception” as said by Jeffery Chasten, “our work isn’t building cars, it’s providing transportation for our clients. Each and every Evos E that has been built or will be built, was designed and manufactured with their benefit in mind"

The foremost proponent of sustainable automotive manufacturing, Toyota has assembled more than 35.4 million electric and hybrid vehicles to date. Upon completion of the DAS location, Toyota has announced plans to bring the highly successful autonomous fabrication method to their North African headquarters. A decision made with consideration to the region’s growing demand for reliable electric transportation, and for its underserved rural populace.
